Odoo is what we do and we want to be the best at it!
Odoo grows and develops further quickly, and also publishes a new version of itself every year. Last versions 16 and 17 have made Odoo faster and more versatile than ever before, introducing over 500 new features and changes. We do not call Odoo the fastest-growing ERP in the world in vain!
It is important for us Sprinters to maintain our professional skills regarding Odoo, and getting officially certified is one good way of ensuring that. When you complete the Odoo certification, you are allowed to use the title “Certified Odoo Professional” to show that you have a high level of expertise.
Developers need to know it all?
As our Developer Viki Chavada puts it: "It's not enough to know Odoo, you have to know the special features of the different versions".
It’s true. A developer’s work means meticulous Odoo knowledge. The requirement to know all the details leads to the fact that each developer often specializes in certain selected modules and knows them thoroughly.
However, it’s not just about technical details either - you also need to understand your clients’ every-day business.
"The better the developer’s understanding of the user experience of the end user, the easier the development and customization of the product.”
Certification process
Certification is not about passing the exam, but to keep up with new features and technical updates to better serve the clients. We are curious about the process, though, so we asked Tatiana and Nestori!
It is a system business functional test, with no technical questions - and it’s actually fun! I’ve been doing certification 3 times (2 times passed).
It is really hard the first time! You don't know what to expect and you easily miss tricky parts. There’s a lot of questions in a relatively short time frame, even something you haven't given much thought to before. You need to be ready to let go, if one question is taking more than 1 minute to think.
You can still be an Odoo professional without the certificate, but it is really nice to have it as an achievement sign as a scout of Odoo.
Tatiana Deribina, Solutions Architect
Certification is like any other exam - a great way to learn about the topic: Odoo.
Some areas seem to be more difficult than others. Perhaps it is just that I am more of an expert in some areas.
All in all, the exam covers so many things, which really shows how big, complex and competent Odoo actually is.
Nestori Törmä, Project Manager
Investing in our employees' professional development
Having Odoo certified professionals in our team ensures that our clients receive the highest level of technical expertise and support. But it also means our team members have the opportunity to work on challenging and diverse projects and continue to develop their skills.
The certification is globally recognized and opens many doors for career growth, whether it's taking on more challenging projects or even advancing to leadership roles.
We support our employees in obtaining their own Odoo certification by offering training programs, mentoring, and hands-on experience.
Odoo is 17, going on 18...
A rolling stone gathers no moss. Our Sprinters are getting certified with Odoo 17 as we speak. Meanwhile, Odoo is already working hard to publish version 18. The new version will see the light of day in the Odoo Experience in October.
Odoo Experience, or OXP in short, is the biggest ERP event of the year, organised annually by the Odoo S.A itself. The Odoo community from all around the world gets together in Brussels, Belgium, excited for the launch (and partying together, too).
