When Joonas Huhtamo joined SprintIT two and a half years ago, he didn’t know much about Odoo. What he did know was that after meeting a few of our people, something just felt right. Fast-forward to 2025, and he’s now our Sprinter of the Year, recognized for his growth, spirit, and the way he lifts up those around him.
From fresh graduate to team player
Back in 2023, Joonas had just graduated and was sending out job applications, mainly in finance and accounting. One of those applications landed in SprintIT’s inbox.
"I was in a few different recruitment processes, but when I had the interview here, I got a really good vibe. I remember thinking, if the rest of the team is anything like these two, I’m going to have a great time.”
That hunch turned out to be true. Joonas accepted the offer and started as a consultant in the summer of 2023.
What does Joonas do at SprintIT?
‘’I help businesses modernize their finance and accounting processes using Odoo. My days are mostly spent implementing accounting solutions and tailoring the system to fit specific customer workflows, which I find the most rewarding."
"I’ve also been expanding into BI reporting recently to help our clients visualize their data in smarter ways.", he continues.
And that's not all. Over time, Joonas has taken on new responsibilities based on both his own interests and the needs of the company.
"My role is actually quite a bit broader than just 'finance consultant,' though. I’m heavily involved in our continuous services, assisting our existing customers with their business challenges and scaling their operations."
"I also have a hand in our product development; we’re always looking for ways to improve our tools and the services we offer. On top of that, I support our sales team by showing the software’s capabilities to potential new clients and our CFO in SprintIT’s internal accounting and finance processes."
From jumping into the unknown to making an impact
Before starting, Odoo was a completely new concept to Joonas.
“I honestly had no idea what it was. But I watched some videos and it seemed like something worth learning. Now that I’ve been working with it, I realize how much there is still to learn, and that’s a good thing."
When he accepted the Sprinter of the Year award, voted by the entire company, Joonas spoke from the heart.
“I’m really happy I’ve been able to make an impact that people voted for me. It means a lot.”
A team effort
One of the strongest messages in Joonas’s speech was about togetherness.
“Nobody is working alone here. We’re doing things together and that’s what really matters.”
He also reminded us of what we achieved last year:
“We exceeded our revenue goals and had our best year so far. We’ve clearly been doing the right things together and we should be proud of ourselves.”
